A measure for rating the overall sound absorption of a material when used in an enclosed architectural space where sound is reflected at many angles of incidence. A ceiling system with an NRC < 0.50 is low performance, an NRC > 0.70 is high performance.
A measure for rating the performance of a ceiling system as a barrier to airborne sound transmission through a common plenum between adjacent closed spaces. A ceiling system with a CAC < 25 is considered low performance, whereas one with CAC of 35 or higher is high performance.
Fire Resistive
FIRE GUARD/Fire Resistive products tested in specific UL floor/ceiling or roof/ceiling design assemblies.
A high light reflective ceiling – LR 0.83 or greater, per ASTM E1477-98 as referred to in ASTM E1264-98 – makes lighting systems, especially indirect lighting, more effective while further reducing energy costs and consumption. LR values apply to White panels only.
Ceiling panels with BIOBLOCK performance resist the growth of mold and mildew on the panel surface.
Ceiling panels with BIOBLOCK Plus performance resist the growth of odor and stain-producing bacteria as well as mold and mildew on the ceiling panel surface.
Ceiling panels maintain humidity and sag resistance.
Standard
Excellent resistance to surface scratching, scuffing or chipping as per Hess Rake Test.
This product is part of the USDA BioPreferred Program and it's biobased content has been independently laboratory tested and third-party certified.

Frequently Asked Questions
DUNE Ceiling Tile Performance & Design Options
DUNE is designed for commercial interiors where the ceiling needs to provide a balance of aesthetics, durability, acoustic performance and value. The fine-textured, non-directional surface provides a consistent visual across the ceiling plane while allowing project teams to select the appropriate edge profile, panel size and suspension system for the application.
Fine-Textured, Non-Directional Visual
DUNE features a fine-textured, non-directional visual that creates a clean, understated ceiling appearance. The non-directional design can also provide installation efficiencies by reducing the need to orient panels in a particular direction, potentially reducing installation time and material scrap. For architects and designers, the result is a ceiling that provides visual consistency without competing with lighting, mechanical systems, furniture or other architectural elements.
Square Lay-In & Tegular Edge Profiles
DUNE is available in both Square Lay-In and Tegular configurations. Square Lay-In panels install into standard exposed suspension systems for a clean, traditional ceiling plane. Tegular panels extend below the suspension grid, creating a dimensional reveal that makes the grid less visually dominant and adds greater definition to the ceiling plane. DUNE Tegular options include different edge profiles, including 9/16-inch and 15/16-inch configurations, allowing the ceiling system to coordinate with the selected suspension system and desired visual.
Multiple Sizes & Configurations
DUNE is available in multiple panel sizes and configurations to accommodate different commercial ceiling layouts. Common configurations include 24 x 24-inch and 24 x 48-inch panels, with additional sizes available for specific project requirements. This flexibility allows project teams to coordinate ceiling modules with lighting layouts, HVAC distribution, room dimensions and other building systems.
Acoustic Performance
DUNE provides standard acoustic performance with an NRC of 0.50 across its standard configurations, while CAC performance varies by item and can reach 35. This makes DUNE a practical option for commercial projects requiring baseline sound absorption and sound attenuation while prioritizing durability, aesthetics and value. For projects requiring higher acoustic performance, project teams should evaluate DUNE alongside Armstrong's broader portfolio of high-NRC and Total Acoustics® ceiling systems.
Why Specify DUNE for Your Commercial Project?
DUNE is designed for project teams looking for a balance of design, performance, durability, sustainability and value.
For Architects & Designers
DUNE provides a refined fine-textured visual, multiple edge profiles and panel sizes, and suspension system compatibility that can support a range of commercial design concepts.
For General Contractors & Project Managers
The non-directional visual can simplify installation, while compatibility with standard suspension systems can help streamline coordination and construction.
For Owners & Facility Teams
DUNE combines durability, standard acoustic performance, light reflectance and available humidity and mold/mildew resistance characteristics to support long-term commercial building operation.
For Consultants & Specifiers
A range of product configurations allows project teams to select DUNE based on specific acoustic, fire, durability, sustainability, dimensional and suspension requirements.
For Transportation & Transit Projects
DUNE can provide a practical commercial ceiling solution for appropriate transit environments where appearance, durability, maintenance and project-specific performance requirements must be balanced.
What sizes are available for DUNE ceiling tiles?
DUNE is available in multiple sizes, including common 24 x 24-inch and 24 x 48-inch configurations. Additional sizes are available for specific DUNE configurations. Project teams should refer to the current DUNE product documentation for exact size and item availability.
What edge profiles are available for DUNE?
DUNE is available with Square Lay-In and Tegular edge profiles. Tegular configurations include options using 9/16-inch and 15/16-inch face profiles depending on the product selected.
Is DUNE a good ceiling for commercial projects?
DUNE can be a strong option for commercial projects that require a clean, fine-textured ceiling visual, standard acoustic performance, durability and value. Its non-directional surface can also simplify installation and ceiling panel orientation.
Can Armstrong help with DUNE product selection and specification?
Yes. Armstrong provides commercial project support to help architects, designers, consultants, contractors and owners evaluate DUNE configurations and related ceiling systems based on project requirements. Product documentation, CAD/BIM resources, specifications and other technical information are also available to support specification and construction.
