We’re excited to share our Living Lab, located at the Armstrong World Industries corporate campus. In the lab we live and breathe healthy spaces, exploring ways our ceilings and walls can help people be at their best where they live, work, learn, heal, and play.
We focused on key elements of indoor environmental quality (IEQ), featuring products that contribute to improved air, sound, light and thermal comfort all while keeping design and sustainability at the forefront.
The Living Lab features many Armstrong solutions and various partner offerings.
Our TOTAL ACOUSTICS portfolio, in a wide choice of textures, to design quieter, flexible acoustics for both open and closed plan spaces. And a plethora of HIGH LIGHT REFLECTANT ceilings to reduce glare and eyestrain to create brighter surroundings.
Take a look around using our virtual and video tours, we hope this space inspires you to create your own healthy space!
The Future of Work
A collaboration between Gensler and Armstrong World Industries, the Living Lab Pilot Project addresses employee needs and encompasses the future of their workplace. Gensler incorporated the workplace experience trends into the Living Lab design.
We’re seeing a shift to the new role of the workplace as a “destination” — creating experiences that employees can’t get working remotely. Top-performing companies understand the power of the physical workplace for their people to thrive, as well as drive creativity and innovation.
The Living lab provides new and inviting collaborative spaces as well as new amenity spaces to make it feel more like home. Bringing the outdoors in by maximizing access to natural light and biophilic design elements create a compelling space, not a tired, stale office.
Experimentation and Learning
We’re entering a phase of experimentation, piloting, and learning. The new workspaces must be driven by purpose and research to dig in and figure out what is working, what is not working, and analyze outcomes. A key piece of a successful pilot program is to test and measure.
The Living Lab incorporates 4 different work station types, 27 office chair choices, 4 demountable wall/room divider brands and many more unique attributes that allowed a group of 50 initial occupants to provide feedback over several months on what worked for them. With their feedback Armstrong and Gensler worked together on a basis of design for future renovations to our corporate campus.
"The more the worplace is connected in a thoughtful way to the organizational strategies, leadership models, operational frameworks, and potential outcomes of a company, the stronger the workplace will emerge."
