Miami Cruise Ship Terminal Project

Have you ever wondered if it's possible to use drywall grid in a barrel-vaulted ceiling application? Now is your chance to see it in action. This construction crew made it look easy as they installed drywall grid starting approximately 15 feet off the floor on one side of the barrel vault extending up to the center of the barrel radius to meet the opposite side of the drywall grid.

This crew was pleased to meet and exceed installation times at every level in the drywall grid installation process, from the floor to the ceiling, where they installed drywall grid 100 feet off the floor using a bucket-lift. Andy Irvine, Project Manager with Lotspeich Co. of FL, Inc, estimated they were able to install 500 square feet per day on this expansive ceiling project, which was ideal for drywall grid.

Shop Drawings Service

The Armstrong partnership, coupled with the shop drawings service, enabled the crew to streamline this build - from the placement of mains, tees, hanger wires, to edge details. Drywall grid and pre-engineered integration solutions were the keys to increasing production efficiencies on this project.

"The production was fantastic." - Andy Irvine, Project Manager

According to Project Manager Andy Irvine, "the production was fantastic." Further, he shared that there was no other solution comparable to the drywall grid. Had this project been built using a traditional stick frame with stud and track, it would have involved much more time and money.

Savings

Imagine the savings of time, labor, and materials you will see with so many massive design elements like barrel-vaulted ceilings and multiple structures within the main design when using drywall grid.

Custom Solutions

This project was grand on many levels, especially the architect's concept of the lighting design. The lighting plan transformed from a sketch on paper to a custom free-form wave constructed of an aluminum suspension system and almost 7,000 acrylic tubes conceptually mirroring the waves in the ocean - thanks to Mark Pasternostro, Project Manager at Armstrong Ceiling Solutions. Mark collaborated with his engineering and manufacturing teams at Armstrong to bring the architect’s vision to life. This intricate lighting design produces a light show for the entire Port to celebrate it's home teams, showcasing the colors of the Miami Dolphins, the University of Miami, or any special celebration, all computer-generated.

Once again, we've proven that when you partner with the experts at Armstrong, we can turn your vision into reality. We have custom solutions for your custom designs - Armstrong Ceiling Solutions will help you Build It Better, creating solid partnerships that lead to lasting relationships.
