The Armstrong Ceilings Recycling Program provides an efficient solution to reduce construction waste and embodied carbon on commercial renovation projects.
Since 1999, the nation’s first ceilings recycling program has diverted over 200 million square feet of old ceiling materials from going to the landfill. Armstrong Ceilings Recycling Program is here to help you every step of the way. From registration – to transportation – to new ceiling solutions for your project.

The Environmental Impact of Ceiling Recycling
Armstrong’s 2030 Goal
We aim to design our products to be recycled, reused or repurposed and drive circularity in our operations, with customers and throughout our value chain.
Over 200 Million Sq. Ft.
Ceiling tile diverted from landfills since 1999. That’s enough material to fill Central Park… 6 times!
Lower Embodied Carbon
Imagine erasing the CO₂ of 97,400,000 miles driven by passenger vehicles. Armstrong has saved the equivalent amount of CO₂ by recycling the ceilings from over 200 million sq. ft. of renovation projects.
What Happens to Reclaimed Ceilings
Once mineral fiber ceilings are received at our manufacturing locations, old ceilings are processed and become the foundation for new ceilings that have higher post-consumer recycled content.
The program helps our customers meet their own waste-reduction targets, and we provide a diversion savings calculator to directly measure the resulting environmental impact and savings.
