Armstrong Ceiling and Wall Solutions participates in the USDA BioPreferred® Program’s voluntary certification and labeling initiative. The purpose of the USDA Certified Biobased Product label is to make it easy for consumers to locate and compare biobased products for purchase.

The USDA Certified Biobased Product label answers two important questions:

  1. Has the biobased content of a product been independently laboratory tested and third-party certified?
  2. What is the product’s percentage of biobased content?

Biobased products are derived from plants and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials. They provide an alternative to conventional petroleum-derived products. You can decrease the use of non-renewable resources, such as petroleum, by designing and specifying products whose biobased content is third-party verified by the USDA. As part of the certification process, biobased content of participating products is measured using ASTM D6866.

All Armstrong products that are USDA Certified Biobased qualify for Federal Preferred Purchasing in the Acoustical Composite Panels category as part of the Mandatory Federal Purchasing Initiative.

The USDA Certified Biobased Product label is a certification mark of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
