Ceiling Recycling Programme: Peterborough Hospital Thanks to an industry-leading off-cut recycling scheme operated by interior solutions provider Armstrong Ceilings, some 8,000m² or 32 tonnes of the manufacturer’s tiles – equivalent to the weight of two double-decker buses - have been saved from landfill. EOL Recycling: Farnborough Air Show Armstrong has completed three successful recycling projects at Farnborough Air Show recycling 24,600m² of Dune Supreme tiles from the show site to its UK manufacturing site in Gateshead, Tyne. Energy Saving: Thermal Mass The Rivergreen Centre was designed as an eco-friendly building, using the thermal mass of the concrete to control the temperature in the room instead of relying on air-conditioning and heating. By installing Axiom C Canopies it was possible to maintain the thermal mass while at the same time covering over the services and enhancing the acoustic and light reflective properties. EOL Recycling: Office Refurbishment The client, architect and contractor were tasked with creating an inspirational yet environmentally friendly, internal environment. To provide a sustainable solution and to save on landfill costs, they needed to find a supplier who would recycle the old ceiling tiles and use the raw material to make new ceilings.
